    Mock election

On Thursday 8th June we held our own mock election in school.

Students were asked to choose between the five major parties in England (Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green and UKIP). Turnout was high at 65%, in line with the trend in the real election. Students visited the library throughout the day to cast their vote and debate the policies of the different parties, with a real buzz and sense of engagement throughout the school.

Once again our result was slightly different - and more decisive - than the real thing, with the Labour party emerging as the clear winner. The vote share was as follows:

    Conservatives: 18%

    Green: 17%

    Labour: 37%

    Liberal Democrat: 17%

    UKIP: 11%
