Thirsk School

& Sixth Form College

    Applying to the Sixth Form

The application process for this year has now formally closed but please contact Mr Pentland, Head of Sixth Form College, if you are looking for a place for 2016/17.

We are really pleased that we have been able not only to sustain but to expand our course offer in the face of very challenging financial circumstances. We have been able to do this because of our newly formed collaboration with Boroughbridge High School and Easingwold School and Sixth Form.  We believe sincerely that students will benefit from both a wider course offer and the opportunity to mix with students from our partner schools.

All of our students will complete four AS or equivalent courses in Year 12 before continuing with three subjects to full A level or equivalent.  The exception to this is our Bridge Programme for students who did not get the entry grade of five GCSE grade C results.  These students get an individual programme of level 2 courses aimed at developing their career aspirations.

AS exams do not contribute to the A level grade if the new A level has started in this subject.  The AS level exams do need to be passed to meet the entry criteria for year 13.

Please get in touch with Ms Barr on 01845 522024 ext 141 or email dionne.barr@thirskschool.org for more information.
