    Careers

To make the right choices for you, you will need to look at information from a range of sources and seek advice and guidance from the various people who can help you. These include subject teachers; form tutors; SRS/careers teachers; careers advisors; parents and guardians.

A range of planned activities take place in our school to help you through this process, these include:

    • attending careers lessons delivered by your SRS teachers, helping you to reflect on the subjects you have already studied, the skills and qualities you have; and investigating numerous jobs relating them to the qualifications and skills required to do them
    •  downloading and using a copy of the recommended year 9 workbook, available here .
    • taking part in tutorial lessons with your form tutor and personal mentor, form tutors will assist in tracking your progress and planning your career choices, and they will guide you through the options choices process

    Learning beyond the classroom :

    • using the online careers resources that are available, these include Launchpad and u-xplore
    • attending the options evening, a great opportunity to find out about what you can study in KS4, visiting the departments and seeing examples of work, talking to students studying the course, finding out how it is assessed (coursework or exams)
    • using the options evening and opportunities in school to look at new subjects you have not studied before
    • talking to the careers advisor and visiting the careers resource centre( the careers advisor is in school on Thursday and Friday, you can drop -in to the Careers Resource Centre and speak to her at lunchtime or email her questions)
