    In KS4 Computer Science we study the following :

    • binary logic
    • how input, output devices and memory work
    • CPU Architecture
    • researching and using various software
    • representing data including text, number, sound, image 
    • database concepts 
    • networks and the internet
    • understanding features of programming and how to program
    • computer systems and programming

    Assessment :

    • unit 1 - written exam (1 hour 20 minute) on computer systems and programming 40%
    • unit 2 - controlled coursework: practical investigation 30%
    • unit 3 - programming project: programming project 30%

    Learning beyond the classroom :

    • using computers and software for home learning
    • using resources and computers in the school resource centres, homework club and local library
    • reading books and magazines on computing and software
