    In KS3 Physical Education, we study the following :

    • understanding how physical activity is of benefit to and contributes to a healthy active lifestyle
    • learning how to monitor fitness levels and what to do in order to improve fitness levels
    • applying a wide variety of individual skills specific to a range of specific sports
    • developing work as a team to both defend and attack in a variety of different sports
    • evaluating and improving performance
    • developing tactics and compositional ideas

    Assessment :

    • formal assessment after each module of work
    • on-going assessment takes place throughout the module
    • peer assessment and verbal feedback throughout lessons
    • there is a mid-module assessment to monitor progress and set targets to achieve target grade by the end of the module

    Learning beyond the classroom :

    • we have many opportunities to attend extra-curricular practices, including both performance based and recreational clubs
    • we have the opportunity to represent the school in a wide range of sports
    • those who regularly attend practices will have the opportunity to represent the school at an appropriate standard
    • many students have achieved area (Hambleton + Richmondshire) and county (North Yorkshire) representative honours as a result of representing the school
