    In KS4 we study the AQA GCSE Drama syllabus which includes:

    • style, genre and social context
    • interpretation of text, characterisation
    • design and technical elements of performance
    • study of theatre practitioners e.g Frantic Assembly, Brecht, Stanislavski etc
    • appreciation of live theatre

    Assessment of KS4 Drama :

    • unit 1 - written paper ( 80 marks /40% ), includes practical work completed during the course, study and performance of scripted plays, and study of live theatre productions seen
    • unit 2 -practical mark (120 marks / 60% ) two controlled assessment options, undertaken in class time
    • assessment is on-going for the practical components, with 15 marks possible for the preparation process and 45 marks for the final performance
    • both written and practical work will be peer and self assessed, with either written or verbal feedback being given

    Learning beyond the classroom :

    • visit the theatre
    • watch street theatre performances
    • watch dramas on television and at the cinema
    • watch people
    • read scripts and look on theatre websites
