    Physical Education

    In KS4 Physical Education we study the following :

    • the theory of physical education
    • exploring healthy, active lifestyles
    • understanding how such lifestyles can benefit you, key influences on sustained involvement, opportunities and pathways
    • studying exercise and fitness as part of our healthy, active lifestyle
    • understanding training principles and goal setting
    • assessing fitness and developing an exercise programme, (PEP)
    • physical activity and our healthy mind and body, the effects on participation and performance
    • substances and the sportsperson
    • our cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular and skeletal systems
    • understanding an analysis of performance (AOP)

    Assessment :

    • continual self and peer assessment, both written and verbal
    • modular assessments on average every 4 lessons
    • topic examinations – 4 per year
    • practical assessment at the end of every activity block, and mid assessment half way through activity
    • final examination at end of year 11
    • practical moderation for all four sports offered

    Learning beyond the classroom :

    • taking an active role in extracurricular sports, there are opportunities arise at lunchtime and afterschool clubs
    • playing competitive sport for school and within the community
    • aiming to live a healthy actively lifestyle by supporting the idea of being physically, mentally and socially well
    • taking the opportunity to spectate at as many sports as possible, not just your chosen activity
    • being familiar with the shared area, download past papers and test yourself
